I have never been to Unity or any other international camp and am unsure if I have the confidence to bring my unit. Is there any support available?

Do I need cancellation insurance?
Each unit/group booking onto Unity is responsible for arranging their own cancellation insurance to cover their unit/groups costs (fees, travel etc.). Please ensure the cancellation policy has been read, this can be found here.
Will our Group need to construct a Gateway to our Camping area?
There is no obligation to construct a gateway to your campsite, though many groups do. The gateways add to the feel of the camp but it is not mandatory.
If you do choose to build a gateway then please ensure its safety and stability for all campers.
When will we find out which Subcamp we are on?
The subcamp allocations are happening Mid-April and we will email the group booking leads when this has been completed.
Are we allowed to cook over an open fire?
Open fires are prohibited within the sub camp areas. All cooking within these areas should take place over gas.
Please ensure that your gas equipment is in good working order, in date and all connections are secure.
Is catering available for groups?
For Unity 2026, we are unable to provide catering for units. We are looking into bringing external providers in each evening which could alleviate some meals for groups during the week however this is not guaranteed at this time.
Those who are attending on the Ranger and Young Leader Subcamp without their unit or without a Guide Unit to link with, central catering will be available at an additional cost of £100 for the week.
Will there be fridges/freezers available for ice blocks and medications?
There will be a central point with fridges/freezers for the freezing of ice blocks and storing of medications.
Anything left in the fridges/freezers is done so at the individual/groups own risk and the Camp team hold no responsibility for them.
Please ensure that any items left in the fridges/freezers is clearly marked with a name and unit name.
Designated times will be given as to when freezer block collection/deposit will take place.
Any items not collected by the end of camp will be donated.
Do I need a Going Away With Qualification to bring my Group to Unity?
No residential qualification is required for this event, however group leaders much ensure that correct provisions such as catering and first aid have been fulfilled in line with Girlguiding’s requirements.
If you would like to complete your Going Away With qualification at Unity, we would love for you to complete this as part of Unity 2026. If you are interested in this, please get in contact with the county outdoor team on outdoorlead@girlguidingstaffordshire.org.uk
Do I need to complete a Residential Event Notification (REN)?
Each group attending Unity 2026 is required to complete their own Residential Event Notification (REN). To assist you with this documentation we have included in our Useful Documents page of our website an outline programme and overall risk assessment. These will be updated regularly as more information is available to share.
Do we need Girlguiding Health Forms and Consent Forms?
All health and consent information so far has been gathered through the ScoutsForms System. This system will become particularly helpful during the camp as it allows us to reduce our use of paper on site but also is a live system constantly being updated with relevant information.
By using the ScoutsForms System all attendees will not be required to carry a health form with them at all times. However, to align with Girlguiding requirements, each attendee must have a signed and printed health form in the Girlguiding format.
A button will be available within EMS in each individual’s health form which auto-populates details into the Girlguiding Format. Group Leaders are required to ensure these are collated for each Group and will be stored securely by the Group Leader (or delegate). This needs to be printed off as near to the camp as logistically possible to ensure recent health conditions are captured. A button will also be available within the leaders booking.
Group Leaders will need to complete the Girlguiding consent form for their group and obtain parent signatures. Group Leaders are required to ensure these are collated for each Group and will be stored securely by the Group Leader (or delegate). The consent form will not be an automatic download from EMS. A template with all activities will be available soon in our Health Forms and Consent on our useful documents page.
How many leaders can I bring with my Group?
Unity politely requests that you do not bring an excess of leaders if it results in a loss of participant places for other groups. Any Groups who book in to Unity with a perceived excess of leaders may be challenged by the Unity Booking Team. Girlguiding Ratios are to be adhered to when calculating the number of leaders required.
It is appreciated that those units bringing Participants with Special and/or Additional Needs may require additional adults.
If you have any leaders or participants who have additional needs and you would like the support of our inclusion team, please complete this form.
What are the water facilities at Unity?
There will be site-wide access to water taps to enable Groups to fill up water barrels/canisters. Water barrels/canisters must only be filled at the designated taps. Please be aware that there may be a short walk so groups may wish to consider a trolley for transportation.
Taps and the basins in the toilets are not to be used for washing up or drinking.
Can leaders bring their younger children to Unity and what is there for them to do?
Younger children are more than welcome at camp. A kids club for leaders and volunteer’s children is available on site for girls up to 10 yrs and boys up to 14yrs. Children have to be booked into the Kids Club prior to camp. No children can be in kids club if the parent is off-site.

Rangers and Young Leaders attending will need to provide their own tents. In regards to catering, we recommend that Rangers and Young Leaders are catered for with their local guide groups where possible due to group catering not being available. Those who do not have a local guide unit attending who can provide catering, provision will be made at an additional cost of £100 per person.

We are only able to offer the provision of camping in campervans, caravans or trailer tents on the Staff Subcamp. If you have a level of leader supervision such that Girlguiding ratios are covered on the Guide Subcamp then leaders with additional needs can stay in their campervans, caravans or trailer tents on the Staff Subcamp.
I have Young Leaders and Rangers attending with my Guide unit but they want to participate in the activities, how do I register them?
If you have both Guides and Rangers or Young Leaders in your group, please create two separate bookings (one for Guides and one for Rangers) as they will be allocated on to different sub-camps and different activity schedules.
I have Young Leaders and Rangers who would like to camp on with the Guide unit and not on the Ranger and Young Leader Subcamp, is this an option?
We are aware that some Rangers and Young Leaders would like to camp with the Guide unit due to wellbeing requirements. We are of course able to accommodate this however the Rangers and Young Leaders will need to be with the Ranger and Young Leader subcamp for their activity allocations. Please create two separate bookings (one for Guides and one for Rangers) so they will be allocated on to the different activity schedules.
